You have to do it!
Simple living is my new passion. I am a complete failure but I am enjoying the journey.
Simplicity is a mindset. Simplicity takes commitment.
I woke up this morning feeling kind of blue. (I wonder if I will ever say that line without singing the Veggie Tales Madam Blueberry song?)
I packed lunches and pushed everyone out the door because it isn’t any fun feeling sorry for yourself with a house full of folks! I did mention to Larry that I might need a few more cinnamon brooms to cheer me up. (I call the smell of cinnamon “happy” because of how it makes me feel.)
I remembered a craft that I have intended to do during the holiday season. Funny thing is that intending to make the craft has had zero impact on my mood. Even though I have purchased the supplies, placed them on the counter and even talked it up to my family, I don’t feel any better. So today, I just did it. I printed the instructions, pulled out the bowl and went to work. A wonderful thing happened… I took a deep breath and smelled “happy.” My craft was making homemade cinnamon ornaments. It was easy, fun and made the house smell fabulous. One really great benefit was that I no longer felt “blue!” Check out the directions. DIY Cinnamon Ornaments
We judge others on their actions and ourselves on our intentions. Intentions don’t help you achieve your goals. You have to actually DO what you intend to do. A great idea is only as good as the discipline you use to put it into action. A friend of our family told Larry a great quote we use all the time at our house. He said, “There are two types of people in the world: those who talk about doing things and those who actually do things.” Romans 5:18 “…for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.” It is really normal to struggle with this but who wants to be NORMAL? Don’t just intend to do something today… do it!
Thankful and Blessed,
